ORGANIZATIONAL RESILIENCE

In these times of covid related change in the nature of the workforce, and changing economic conditions, more and more articles are being written about resiliency, what it is and how to develop it. In addition to these articles, there is an abundance of self-help programs and books as well. For the most part though, most of these have been focused on developing individual resilience. In addition to individual resilience, group resilience of the workforce also plays a role in organizational resilience.

There is no doubt that developing and maintaining individual resilience is important since PEOPLE are the key element in an organization’s overall success. However, understanding the key elements of Organizational Resilience are key to overall organizational survival is just as important as individual resilience since individuals support the organization.

The article attached below attempts to address the six elements of organizational resilience with detailed examples. While the article is entitled Six Types of Resilience Companies Need Today”, it is more accurate to view the six items below as key ingredients of “Organizational Resilience”.

Regardless of whether these elements are called “types” of resilience or “elements” of resilience, understanding and managing these elements are essential for the enduring success of any organization. The common ingredient in organizational success is how well resilient team members work together to develop and maintain the six elements referred to above. The article is a good starting point for those planning to start up a business and can serve is a check list of important things to consider when planning for Organizational Success, of which Organizational, Group, and Individual Resilience are key ingredients.
