Executive Coaching

What is Executive Coaching?

ICF (International Coaching Federation) defines coaching as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential. (https://coachingfederation.org/about)

Executive coaching is focused on working with C-Suite level executives or business owners and professionals.

Successful Executive Coaching is a committed dialogue between you, the client, and the coach based on trust, integrity and a focus on learning and development. It is an investment in oneself or one’s team members designed to unlock previously untapped sources of imagination, productivity and leadership.

Client Question: “Why should I use an executive coach or why I should pay for my employees coach?”

“The mean ROI on investment in coaching was 7 times the initial investment, and over a quarter of coaching clients reported a stunning ROI of 10 to 49 times the cost (of coaching).” Price & Waterhouse Coopers/The Association Resource Center Global Survey reported in a 2012 Forbes Article by Matt Symonds.

“Coaching is unlocking people’s potential to maximize their own performance.” Coaching for Performance, Sir John Whitmore

“Coaching is a mechanism of transformation”. Coaching for Performance, Sir John Whitmore

“Coaching is an efficient, high-impact process of dialogue that helps highly performing people improve results in ways that are sustained over time.” The Way to Coach Leaders, Executives and Managers by Andrew Neitlich Center for Executive Coaching.

At Navigator SLS, Executive Coaching is the primary delivery method we use to help you develop the insights to solutions you are looking for to reach your professional or organization’s objectives. Executive Coaching can be delivered in private one on one sessions or in a team format depending on an initial survey of situational requirements.

RBLP (Resilience-Building Leader Program)

“Collective resilience is a social phenomenon that exists in any organization where people rely on each other to accomplish difficult and challenging tasks together. Collective resilience is the ability to overcome challenges as a team. More importantly, it is the ability to adapt and grow because of those challenges. Resilient teams are stronger together and they make organizational learning and change possible”.(used with permission of RBLP (TM).

In helping companies prepare and execute the business operations derived from their strategy, one of the most critical elements for an organization is teams that work effectively, in alignment towards accomplishing the organization’s objectives. This makes selecting the right people and providing them the right training essential.

The RBLP program can help your organization establish a foundation of leadership and effective communication that is in alignment at each leadership level. In successful execution of an organization’s strategic plan and the business operations that follow, alignment is essential. Making the principles of leadership and resilience described in the RBLP program available to each level of your organization, top down-bottom up, ensures that each level understands what is expected of it and can act in alignment with the company strategy and purpose.  For more information visit https://resiliencebuildingleader.com/ and visit the Navigator SLS RBLP program sheet: https://navigatorsls.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/RBLP-Leadership-Development-Navigator-Strategic-DS-4.pdf.

to be.” — Rosalynn Carter

way things turn out.” — John Wooden

Career Strategy Development

In this era of covid and the changes brought on it by it, organizations, workers and their family members are dealing with the increased challenges caused by changing work conditions, new work responsibilities, and a changing work location. Added to the groups above is the college student.

Any number of studies are out that document what parents of college students in 2022 already know, that is although college is stressful anyway, the factors associated with Covid such as limited visits to friends and family, isolation due to pandemic induced distancing, can significantly add to existing stress. As a result, something as challenging as attending college can be even more so.

Since the college student of today is potentially a leader of tomorrow, at Navigator SLS we consider helping college students and recent college graduates to
understand and think about their career strategy now at the beginning of their career, providing them the tools to shape and adapt their own career strategy as the future unfolds.
Regardless of what profession a student chooses, they will lead the rest of their life in some form (themselves, their family, their business, etc.).

Helping You Develop Your Career Strategy

Our Career Strategy Development program is adaptable to meet the needs of the student and the new or established professional, using validated assessments, executive coaching and a progressive leadership training program designed to prepare the student/professional to lead (Leadership) or be led (follower) during their career.

Resilience Development

“Since the professional of today is potentially a leader of tomorrow, at Navigator SLS we consider helping professionals and organizations to understand stress while learning how to develop resilience now, a critical mission of ours.

“Resolute – marked by firm determination; bold, steady” (Merriam Webster)

“Firm in purpose or belief; constant in pursuing a purpose”

“Resilient – going back to your original condition” (Merriam Webster)

In these days of Covid induced uncertainty, a changing economic environment and a shift to remote work, why would you or your organization settle for being stressed when your organization could be resilient and drive forward to success while embracing change?

Navigator SLS provides a selection of training courses designed to facilitate the development of an organization wide culture better prepared to not only handle the complexities of the changes but to adapt to the new environment and push forward to new opportunities. We integrate elements of culture development practiced by successful corporations and US Special Operation Forces to develop an organizational culture that demonstrates the highest level of performance excellence, team cohesion and a Resilient Culture.

COACHING FOR RESILIENCE (Coming Soon)

In May 2024 Navigator SLS will be offering ICF Certified Resilience Coaching for individuals and teams in support of the development of organizations with a resilient culture.  Resilient Coaching will be available as a part of a Resilient Culture Development Program as well as stand alone Resilience Coaching.

Assessment Tools

There are numerous assessments on the market but after careful research, at Navigator SLS we focused on assessments that can address multiple customer needs and are easy to take and understand:

– -The 6 Working Genius. Created by Patrick Lencioni and the Table Group:  “The Working Genius is part personality (20%) and part productivity tool(80)%.  This assessment helps people identify the types of work that bring them more energy and fulfillment while avoiding work that leads to frustration and failure, while becoming more self-aware, more productive and more successful at their chosen work. Working Genius identifies the six fundamental activities that are required for any work and provides a simple framework for how to get things done.”  For more details visit: https://www.workinggenius.com/about#wg-about-what-makes-it-different-id

– – PROFILE XT ® : This family of assessments assists with team selection and the assessment of a person’s behavioral traits, interests and cognitive abilities (thinking styles). The PXT family services two primary purposes. The first one helps define the degree of “Fit” between personal character and successful job characteristics with the goal of better explaining the “Total” person. A variation of this assessment given to the team can help provide insights into how teams interaction can be optimized. Additional Profiles available include the PROFILES SALES Assessment, PROFILES MANAGERIAL FIT Assessment.

– – EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE (EI) ASSESSMENTS By GENOS INTERNATIONAL– It is popular to refer to Emotional Intelligence (EI) as a “soft skill” requirement for leadership. The reality is that if you measure a “hard skill” by positive impact, and durability then the effects of not demonstrating EI competencies used in the GENOS Assessments (Self-Awareness, Awareness of others, Authenticity, Emotional Reasoning, Self-Management, and Positive Influence) can have a devastating, negative affect on both leadership and organizational effectiveness, not to mention organizational profitability/viability.

Both of the assessments mentioned above can play a key role in the evaluation and selection of execution/implementation team members, leadership position candidates as well as prospective hires. Customized utilization of the assessments available can also play a key role in Succession Planning.

Emotional Intelligence

Emotional Intelligence Development

When dealing with people, remember you are not dealing with creatures of logic, but with creatures of emotion. – Dale Carnegie

75 percent of careers are derailed for reasons related to emotional competencies, including inability to handle interpersonal problems unsatisfactory team leadership during times of difficulty or conflict; or inability to adapt to change or elicit trust. – Center for Creative Leadership

It is popular to refer to Emotional Intelligence as a “soft skill” requirement for leadership as if it was less critical to leadership than “hard skills”. The reality is that if you measure a “hard skill” by positive impact, and durability, then the effects of demonstrating EI competencies such as those listed below can have profound positive and lasting effects on one’s leadership styles making them a “hard skill”:

— being fully present or self-aware in a situation

— accurately view situations from another person’s perspective

— facilitate challenging conversations effectively

— consider issues from multiple perspectives

— adapt effectively to different/changing circumstances

— help others respond effectively to stressful situations.

— When people talk, listen completely. Most people never listen. – Ernest Hemingway

At Navigator SLS we work with you or your team to understand the value of Emotional Intelligence in Leadership as well to understand that each individual possesses and utilizes elements of EI to some extent and may not even realize it. We use a combination of executive coaching and specialized assessments to enable the individual or team realize their full potential in terms leading with Emotional Intelligence. We start with an initial coaching session to develop a custom EI development program using additional coaching sessions and the Genos family of EI assessments

After researching multiple EI assessment tools, Navigator SLS selected the Genos Family of EI assessments not only to measure one’s EI competencies but also because the assessment reports include recommended steps one can take to improve on EI competencies as appropriate. In addition the Genos assessments is also measure how one’s team perceives a team leader’s Emotional Intelligence, a critical factor in a leader developing their EI skills. Understanding how you are perceived by others not only benefits you or other team members in terms of self-awareness but can benefit the team and organization as a whole.

The Genos Model of Emotional Intelligence, including the six core skills is as follows:

(Navigator SLS is a certified assessment provider with training providers Certified as Emotional Intelligence Practitioners by GENOS INTERNATIONAL).

Let’s not forget that the little emotions are the great captains of our lives and we obey them without realizing it. – Vincent van Gogh

Emotional Intelligence Leadership Training

Change happens in the boiler room of our emotions–so find out how to light their fires. – Jeff Dewar

At Navigator SLS we offer a series of EI focused courses to help you and your personnel understand better understand one’s assessment results while developing the skills needed to develop and demonstrate proficiency in EI competencies. But to ensure that the results of the Executive Coaching and Assessments are enduring and sustainable, we offer Emotional Intelligence focused off-the-shelf and customizable training programs designed to reinforce insights obtained through executive coaching and EI skill assessments.
